MEET THE OVERLEA NEIGHBOURHOOD

Learn More

Exciting things are coming to the Overlea neighbourhood. This well-connected part of Glen Innes runs alongside Leybourne Circle, which is set to become a pedestrian-first, green, ‘liveable street’ where local kids can safely walk to and from the four schools nearby. The reserve and stream running through Leybourne Circle all the way from Sacred Heart College to Tāmaki College and the Tāmaki Recreation Centre will be home to upgraded parks, playgrounds and natural spaces.

Around 170 new, high quality homes are being built in Overlea, and nearly half of them have already welcomed their new occupants. Take a look around to learn more.

Construction is underway in Overlea North, by Jalcon Homes

The 49 homes in Overlea North are being built by our builder partner, Jalcon Homes. Like all homes delivered by the Tāmaki regeneration programme, they’ll meet 6 Homestar standard, which exceeds the minimum New Zealand Building code requirements. The homes and their surrounds will be thoughtfully landscaped, with pocket parks, fruit trees and green laneways weaving their way through the neighbourhood.

Homes for everyone

Research shows that mixed housing types lead to stronger, more vibrant communities. Overlea North will include 22 public housing homes and nine affordable homes for purchase by whānau with an existing connection to Tāmaki who have completed the OWN IT programme. This is part of our commitment to providing a range of housing choices so that everyone who wants to stay in Tāmaki, can afford to do so.

THE BIG PICTURE

The Tāmaki regeneration programme is building on the strengths of every corner of Tāmaki to create unique, beautiful neighbourhoods. Over the next 20 years, we’re working alongside the community and our partners to bring more homes, parks and playgrounds, infrastructure, transport, education and jobs, to create a thriving Tāmaki where no one is left behind.

A total of 10,500 homes will be built in Tāmaki to suit whānau of all sizes and stages, including public housing homes, secure long-term rentals, and affordable homes for people with a connection to Tāmaki.

There are six neighbourhoods in Tāmaki where construction is currently underway  - Overlea, Hīnaki, West Tāmaki, Derna Tobruk, Line Epping and Dunkirk. Click below to explore each of them.
