WaterCare: Tāmaki Water Upgrades - July to October 2025

Watercare is planning to upgrade the water network in Tāmaki. To help inform design, and minimise construction issues, contractors need to undertake investigations to understand the ground conditions along the pipeline route. Conducting these investigations will ensure there is minimal disruption to the existing services and allow for timely and efficient construction.

These investigations will involve securely fencing the work site, drilling into the proposed site, logging a sample, installing a ground water monitoring device and reinstating the area. Once complete, there will be a small grassless patch with a small cap visible on the surface and it will remain in place for approximately one year.

Ground investigations will take place in the road, berms and reserves along: Apirana Avenue, Dalton Street, Eastview Road, Howard Hunter Avenue, Line Road, Maybury Street, Merton Road, Point England Road, St Johns Road, Stewart Avenue, Swainston Road, Taniwha Street, Tripoli Road, and Queens Road.

Works are expected to take place start in late-July2025 and are expected to finish by the end of October 2025.

  • Our general working hours are between 7am-6pm.During working hours, construction noise, vibration and dust should be expected but will be kept within our consented limits.
  • Night works may be required in some locations. We will contact nearby properties closer to the time with confirmed dates and our working hours.
  • Each site will be securely fenced while the works are underway. In general, the investigations are expected to take approximately two days per drill site. The reserve sites are expected to take approximately three days per drill site.
  • Please note these works are weather dependent. Should there be any changes you will be notified in advance.

An approved traffic management plan will be in place. You may notice the following temporary changes:

  • Stop/go systems
  • Reduced lane widths
  • Reduced speed limits
  • Reduced street parking
  • Pedestrian detours/reduced footpath width.

Boundary Reserve WW and SW Project - September 2025

Auckland Council began works at the Boundary Reserve in early May with the upgrade of the stormwater network now successfully completed. The construction of the new wastewater diversion pipeline is underway. This includes installing 555 meters of pipeline and eight manholes, extending from Boundary Reserve West to Boundary Reserve East and connecting to the new wastewater pump station on Dunkirk Road.

Auckland Council will commence the installation of the wastewater pipeline along Tripoli Road at the end of August, where twonew concrete manholes will be built in-situ and two existing manholes will be replaced.

There will be no parking on both sides of Tripoli, Tobruk and Tangaroa Roads. Pedestrian access remains on Tripoli Road. Public bus and school bus routes remain unchanged. Resident access remains available, and the contractor will liaise with any affected residents

To  minimise  traffic  disruption  on  Tripoli  Road,  Auckland  Transport  is  implementing  a  temporary  detour  for southbound traffic via Tangaroa Road, Dunkirk Road and Tobruk Road as per the map here.
