Your place on the map: Help us name new streets in Tāmaki Your place on the map: Help us name new streets in Tāmaki

As part of our regeneration of the Tāmaki area, we sometimes build new roads to make moving around the community easier.

We need your help in suggesting names for these new streets being built in Tāmaki. Your suggestions are the beginning of the road naming process, and we pass them on to Auckland Council and the Local Board for further approval.

If you have ideas for street names you’d like to see in our community, click on the link below to fill in our suggestion form.

GUIDELINES:

Auckland Council has some guidelines about what makes a great new street name.

  • Names should reflect a clear linkage to the environment, historical and cultural identity of an area, and what makes the community unique.
  • Names that commemorate an event, deceased person or place.
  • Names should be sufficiently different from other existing street names in the area.
  • Use of Te Reo Māori and Pasifika names is encouraged.

If you have submitted a name in the past, and it meets the criteria but has not yet been used, we also welcome you to re-submit you suggestion for reconsideration.

For any questions about this process, please feel free to email us at info@tamakiregeneration.co.nz
