The West Tāmaki neighbourhood is all about connection. Overlooking the water and sitting atop the ridgeline that runs between Glen Innes, St Heliers and Glendowie, it’s bordered on two sides by a planned cycleway which will connect residents to St Heliers, the Glen Innes town centre, and the coast. Paddington Reserve, running along the southern edge of the neighbourhood, is being renovated into an attractive green corridor for local residents (and wildlife). It will connect West Tāmaki to local schools and to the Glen Innes town centre via a planned pedestrian greenway.
The regeneration of West Tāmaki isn’t just about increasing physical connections from A to B. It’s also about strengthening residents’ connection to Tāmaki. We’re building our first secure affordable rental homes here for key workers in Tāmaki. It’s one of several types of housing options we’re delivering to give people more opportunity to stay connected to the community they love. Read on to learn more.
